HOLLAND TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Authorities say four people were injured in an early-morning four vehicle crash in Ottawa County.
The crash happened at 2:43 a.m. on Saturday at the intersection of Business Loop I-196 and 112th Avenue in Holland Township.
Ottawa County Sheriff’s deputies say a car driven by 22-year-old Joel Williams was driving northbound on 112th Avenue and did not stop for a flashing red traffic signal. Williams’ car was struck by a car driven by a 24-year-old woman from Holland as it entered the intersection. Both cars crashed into a vehicle driven by 25-year-old Gonzalo Pagan, who was in the southbound lane of 112th Avenue and stopped at the intersection. The vehicles then crashed into a vehicle driven by 38-year-old Thomas Muntter, who was also stopped at the intersection facing southbound on 112th Avenue.
Williams and the 24-year-old woman were treated at the scene. Her passengers, 25-year-old Jessica Carroll and 21-year-old Natalia Guevara, were taken to the hospital in serious condition. Pagan and Muntter were not injured. All were wearing seat belts.
Williams was cited for disregarding a traffic signal, causing a crash. The 24-year-old woman, whose name is being withheld, was arrested for Operating While Intoxicated.
