LANSING, Mich. (WOOD) — Chick-fil-A says it plans to bring between 15 and 20 new restaurants to Michigan in the next five years, including in the Grand Rapids area.
The groundbreaking of the first of those restaurants, which will be on Saginaw Highway in Lansing, is scheduled for Tuesday. There are already Chick-fil-As at Detroit Metropolitan Airport and on Oakland University’s campus, but the Lansing location will be the fast-food company’s first standalone restaurant.
There are also plans in the works to build a Chick-fil-A in the area of M-6 and Kalamazoo Avenue in Gaines Township, south of Grand Rapids.
In a release, Chick-fil-A said it plans to open between three and four new restaurants in Michigan in each of the next five years. It is also looking at locations in Kalamazoo and metro Detroit.
Currently, the closest Chick-fil-A to Grand Rapids is in Mishawaka, Ind. — about 90 miles away.—–Online:Chick-fil-A
