Cass Co. sheriff announces retirement

CASSOPOLIS, Mich. (WOOD) — After 24 years as the Cass County sheriff, Joseph M. Underwood, Jr. announced that he will not be seeking re-election in the 2016 elections.

“It has been a pleasure serving the citizens of Cass County,” Underwood said in a news release.

The release went on to say that Underwood looks forward to retirement at the end of his term on Dec. 31.

Underwood has been in law enforcement for 40 years, the release said.
