SPRINGFIELD, Mich. (WOOD) — A Battle Creek man is in police custody in connection to a suspicious death in Calhoun County.
A passerby called police after discovering the body on 5th Avenue near 30th Street in Springfield around 11:45 p.m. Wednesday. The body was lightly covered with snow.

Calhoun County Sheriff Matt Saxton said there are no major signs of trauma to the victim’s body. Saxton said the victim appears to be a 43-year-old white man, but detectives are withholding his name until the autopsy is complete.
