UNION CITY, Mich. (WOOD) — Power has been restored for village of Union City residents after an explosion at the electric building Tuesday afternoon.

Officials said the explosion took out the village’s main switcher for the electrical system, causing the electric grid to go down.

Around 10:30 p.m., power had been restored for all residents.

Employees working in the building at the time of the explosion and first responders were not hurt.
