Body found in Buck Creek; no sign of foul play

BYRON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — The body of a homeless man was found partially submerged in Buck Creek south of Grand Rapids on Tuesday.

The Kent County Sheriff’s Department identified the man as 62-year-old James William Hoffman.

His body was spotted by someone walking near the railroad tracks in the area of 68th Street and Christmas Lane SW in Byron Township, according to the sheriff’s department.

Authorities say an autopsy found no sign of injuries or foul play.

Hoffman was homeless and staying in the area recently, the sheriff’s office said.
