Authorities ID man killed in Muskegon River tubing accident


BRIDGETON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Authorities have identified the 26-year-old man who died Saturday afternoon after a tubing accident on the Muskegon River.

Newaygo County Sheriff’s deputies say, around 3:18 p.m. Kevin Tejchma was tubing down the Muskegon River in Bridgeton Township, northeast of Muskegon, with a group of friends when he fell of the tube and went under the water.

Crews arrived on-scene, and friends of Tejchma found him under water and brought him to shore with assistance of officers.

Authorities say CPR was performed, however, Tejchma, who is from Fruitport, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Deputies say the incident is under investigation, however, alcohol may have been a factor.
