ALLENDALE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Authorities say a clerk make up a story of an Allendale Township gas station being robbed over the weekend.
The report of the armed robbery came in just before 10 p.m. Saturday at the Admiral gas station on Lake Michigan Drive near 68th Avenue. At the time, the clerk said that a man implied he had a handgun and demanded cash. She said she gave him the money from the cash register and he took off.
Wednesday, Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office Capt. Mark Bennett said that over the course of several interviews, it became apparent that the clerk had lied and that the robbery never happened.
The case is being handed over the prosecutor’s office, which will decide what charges the 24-year-old Allendale woman should face.
She was not in police custody Wednesday.
