Traffic Tom: Where to park during ArtPrize 10

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — If you plan on visiting downtown Grand Rapids during ArtPrize 10, a lot has changed when it comes to parking in the city.

Since last year’s ArtPrize, the city has switched to a new app for paying at parking meters. Drivers should download the new app MOTU before heading downtown. You can also use a credit card or pay with cash at parking meter stations.

If you don’t want to search for a metered parking spot, check out the DASH lots. Area 7, Area 8 and Area 9 lots on the city’s West Side are great options. It costs between $2 to $6 to park then you can hop on the city’s DASH bus for free.

The DASH bus runs through downtown, the city’s West Side as well as the North Monroe neighborhood. Riders can hop on and hop off as often as they would like. DASH runs until 1 a.m. on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

A new DASH service for ArtPrize 10 is a route that will run visitors out to SiTE:LAB. The venue is at the old Franklin High School located at 415 Franklin Street on the city’s southeast side. The free shuttle service will also take riders to Fredrick Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park as well.

If you have parked in the Area 4 or Area 5 lots near Van Andel Arena in years past, keep in mind those are closed due to the Studio Park development construction.
