GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (AP) — ArtPrize is hosting a three-day exhibition to celebrate the artwork of 50 contemporary artists, including 30 who participated in the annual competition.

“Collectors Show / SPRING” takes place Thursday to Saturday in Grand Rapids. Part of the proceeds support arts education programming for ArtPrize. Second Ave Arts partnered with ArtPrize on the exhibition, which features artwork that’s available for purchase.

The exhibition is curated by New York-based artist Tyler Loftis. He says in a statement: “The goal is to add to an already rich culture that is teeming with artists and new collectors.”

A VIP preview is Thursday and the exhibition also will be open by appointment on Sunday. ArtPrize takes place Sept. 21-Oct. 19 in Grand Rapids.MORE PITCH NIGHTS

Additionally, ArtPrize on Tuesday announced it was expanding its Pitch Night events. This year, in addition to events in Minneapolis; Indianapolis; and Durham, North Carolina; there will be a Pitch Night in Louisville, Kentucky.

Pitch Night winners get $5,000 each and are promised access to a high-profile venue in downtown Grand Rapids for ArtPrize.

Each event will invite five artists to compete for the grant, giving them five minutes to tell local art experts why their idea for an art installation should go to ArtPrize 2016.>>Online: Details on the four Pitch Night events–24 Hour News 8 web staff
