Anonymous threat closes Lakeview Schools in Battle Creek

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (WOOD) — Battle Creek police are investigating after an anonymous threat closed the Lakeview School District on Wednesday.

The Battle Creek Police Department said the threat was made around 10:15 p.m. Tuesday through the school district’s website. The suspect threatened to “shoot the place up” if school wasn’t closed on Wednesday.

Police were notified about the threat around 11:30 p.m.

Police say they are working closely with school administrators and the third-party company that manages the website. They also believe an email address was created to send the threat through the district’s website contact form. Authorities say it could take several days to track down the suspect.

In November, three teens were taken into custody after making a false bomb threat at Lakeview Middle School. Police say the teens admitted to writing a note with the threat and trying to implicate a classmate.
