Woman finds lost memory card in picture frame

Allegan County

ALLEGAN, Mich. (WOOD) — It has all the elements of a good mystery – unknown characters, secret photos and unexpected places.

The mystery begins at the Allegan Goodwill store where Sandy Roach went looking for a bargain.

She found that bargain and then some.

“I’m a frugal shopper,” Roach told 24 Hour News 8. “What can I say?”

Last Friday, Roach bought a treasure at the Goodwill in Allegan.

“I shop there frequently,” she explained.

She bought a digital picture frame. As it turns out, whoever donated the frame left their memory card inside.

“I popped it out and thought, ‘Well, maybe I got a free memory card, and it’s deleted and all.’ And when I looked, it wasn’t,” Roach said.

More than 100 personal photos are on the memory card. Sandy paid $5 for the frame and someone else’s memories.

So, she’s been working all weekend to find the rightful owner.

“I’m on it…until I get a headache,” she said.

Roach contacted Goodwill’s corporate office and posted the mystery on her Facebook page. The photos have many faces, including a couple dressed for a special occasion, like prom or a wedding.

“If it were me, I accidentally get rid of things and don’t realize I get rid of them, and with photos like that, that’s somebody’s memories, and you can’t always get them photos back,” Roach said.

The photos are lost in time and space, waiting to unlock a mystery.

“Memories can be lost but yet can be found, and I thought maybe I could help somebody find these,” Roach said.
