MONTEREY TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Two people are in custody after allegedly breaking into a home with numerous guns inside.

A home alarm system alerted Allegan County authorities to the crime Sunday at 8:43 p.m. The homeowner alerted authorities that he had numerous guns inside the home.

Deputies found a woman hiding in the suspect’s vehicle parked in the garage; they noticed another suspect inside the home, located on 28th Street north of 134th Avenue in Monterey Township, west of Wayland.

The Allegan County Sheriff’s Office says it called its SWAT team to the scene after the second suspect refused to follow orders to come out of the home. The male suspect eventually came out and authorities found no one else was inside.

Both suspects remain in the Allegan County jail on home invasion charges. Anyone with additional information in this case is encouraged to contact the sheriff’s office at 269.673.0500 or Silent Observer at 1.800.554.3633.
