SOUTH HAVEN, Mich. (WOOD) — Police rescued a man from the water after his boat capsized in South Haven Sunday night.
It happened around 7:15 p.m. approximately 30 yards off the shore at North Pier.
The man told police he only intended to go down the river, but when he went to turn around on Lake Michigan, the wind picked up and flipped his boat over.
Officers on scene located the man in the water and successfully got a throw ring out to him, and then dragged him back to a ladder where he could climb out of the water.
Once the man made it to shore, he told officers he was exhausted and thought he was going to drown if they hadn’t thrown him a flotation device.
