GANGES TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Authorities have identified the man who was hit and killed by a vehicle while lying in the road.
It happened around 3:20 a.m. Thursday on 66th Street between 119th and 129th avenues in Ganges Township, south of Douglas.
The Allegan County Sheriff’s Office said 54-year-old Robert Joe-Edward Cobb of Saugatuck sustained a severe head injury and died at the scene.
Deputies said the 18-year-old driver was traveling southbound when he struck Cobb, who was laying in the middle of the lane.
Authorities think Cobb had been drinking. They added he was wearing dark clothes and would have been difficult for drivers to see.
The crash remains under investigation.
