SAUGATUCK TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Authorities are working to identify skeletal remains found outside of Saugatuck.

The remains were found in the area of 63rd Street and 134th Avenue in Saugatuck Township. The Allegan County Sheriff’s Office says hunters stumbled upon them Sunday.

On Monday, the remains were recovered with help from the Western Michigan School of Medicine’s Forensic Anthropology Unit.

Authorities don’t yet have a name to put to the remains, nor do they know how the person died.
