Authorities: Woman killed in crash with deer

WAYLAND TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A woman died after hitting a deer with her car just east of Wayland Monday, authorities say.

It happened along 135th Avenue near 7th Street in Wayland Township. The Allegan County Sheriff's Office was called there around 7 p.m. on a report of a car in a ditch.

When deputies arrived, they found the driver unresponsive. Her injuries were ultimately fatal.

She was identified Tuesday as 27-year-old Kendra Kaye Ohler from Hastings.

The sheriff's office said its crash reconstruction team found the woman hit a deer while headed east on 135th. Neither speed nor alcohol are believed to have been factors.
