A patient’s story: Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital saves lives

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) A fundraising event kicks off the Michigan International Auto Show in Grand Rapids. The Auto Show Charity Spectacular benefits Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital.

A woman who has witnessed the life-saving care at the hospital first hand is Cierra Prosser. She was involved in an ATV accident at the age of 16. She was airlifted to Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital, where she was hospitalized for two weeks, including surgery and physical therapy. She credits the doctors and staff for her care and recovery, as well as providing care for her family through the process. Prosser formed a special bond with her surgeon and still sees that doctor for follow-up care. She is happy to be working as a model for the Auto Show Charity Spectacular, to help give back to the amazing work at Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital.

The Auto Show Charity Spectacular includes a strolling dinner, fashion show, and some special extras. Tickets are $150 per person and are available at the door or by calling (616) 391-2000. The gala will be broadcast live at 7 p.m. on WOOD TV8 and WOTV 4 Women.
