GENEVA TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Three teens are facing charges after admitting to vandalizing a cemetery in Van Buren County.

Two 15-year-old boys and a 13-year-old girl told police they were walking to the Lacota Cemetery on March 19 when they began tipping headstones over for fun and because they were bored.

Nearly three dozen tombstones were toppled, damaged or broken in the incident, according to the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office. Some of the damaged headstones are more than a hundred years old.

The three teens remain with their parents at this time.

Police say the report will be sent to the Van Buren County Prosecutor’s Office where charges will be pending.
