3 injured when car drifts into path of semi-truck

POLKTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Three people, including two children, were injured when their car drifted into the path of a semi-truck near Coopersville.

The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office says a car was traveling northbound on 68th Avenue near Arthur Street when it drifted into oncoming traffic and was struck by a southbound semi-truck around 3 p.m. Tuesday.

Deputies say the driver of the semi saw the vehicle drifting into his path and was able to slow down significantly, helping to lessen the impact of the crash.

The driver of the car, 43-year-old Meredith Slater, and her two daughters, ages 2 and 6, were all taken to Grand Rapids hospitals. At last check, they were all listed in stable condition.

Slater told police she couldn’t remember what caused her to drift into oncoming traffic.

The crash remains under investigation.
