MUSKEGON, Mich. (WOOD) — A 77-year-old woman was killed and nine others were injured in a house fire in Muskegon Monday morning.

Barbara Branyan was killed in the fire started around 8 a.m. at the home in the 1200 block of Fleming Avenue, according to Muskegon authorities. She was found in the upstairs of the home.

The Muskegon fire chief said nine other people — ranging in age from young children to older adults — were brought to the hospital for smoke inhalation.

All ten people were occupants of the home.

The fire chief said it appeared the fire was accidental, but did not provide further details. The cause remains under investigation.
