Vander Sluis scores 30; Cornerstone wins

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Holland Christian graduate Sam Vander Sluis scored 30 points and had 16 rebounds to lead Cornerstone to an 85-79 victory over Concordia Wednesday night at Mol Arena.

Vander Sluis, who recently became the school’s all-time leader in rebounds, was a force throughout the contest. His dunk with 3:40 left in the game gave the Golden Eagles a nine-point advantage. He helped close the game out with a pair of late free throws.

Christian Rodriguez added 20 points and Riley Costen had 16 points.

Cornerstone improves to 15-4 overall (8-1 WHAC). The Golden Eagles return to action next Wednesday night, traveling to face University of Michigan-Dearborn.
