Vander Sluis leads Cornerstone to win, WHAC semifinals

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Holland Christian graduate Sam Vander Sluis scored 35 points to help lead Cornerstone to a 78-63 victory over UM-Dearborn Thursday night in the opening round of the WHAC tournament. 

Vander Sluis also had 17 rebounds and 4 blocked shots. Earlier in the day, he was named the conference player of the year. 

Tyler Baker added 12 points and Christian Rodriguez scored 10 points and dished out 6 assists to help the Golden Eagles.

Cornerstone improves to 23-7 overall and next hosts Siena Heights in the conference tourney semifinals Saturday afternoon at Mol Arena. Tipoff is scheduled for 3 p.m.
