ALLENDALE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Grand Valley State jumped all over Northern Michigan and cruised to an 85-62 victory Thursday night at GVSU Fieldhouse Arena.
The win, coupled with Wayne State and Michigan Tech losses, pushed GVSU into the GLIAC Tournament. The Lakers improve to 15-11 overall and 9-9 in the GLIAC.
Hunter Hale led the way with 23 points. Jake Van Tubbergen added 18 points while Jeramiah Ferguson and Isaiah Brock scored 13 and 12 points respectively.
The victory also marked head coach Ric Wesley’s 300th career win as GVSU head coach.
Earlier in the night, the No. 11 women’s team defeated Northern Michigan 50-37. Cassidy Boensch scored 22 points and added 12 rebounds in the win. GVSU improves to 24-2 overall and 17-1 in the GLIAC.
In other GLIAC action, the Davenport men’s basketball team improved to 23-3 overall and 15-3 in the GLIAC with a 72-59 victory over Michigan Tech. Dyllon Hudson-Emory scored 20 points and Janeau Joubert scored 17 points.
The Davenport women lost to Michigan Tech 72-53.
Ferris State’s men’s basketball team defeated Purdue Northwest 83-69. Jaylin McFadden scored 20 points.
The Bulldogs women’s team defeated Purdue Northwest 79-64 to improve to 12-12 and 9-9 in the GLIAC.
