Davenport suffers first loss of season to Ashland

CALEDONIA, Mich. (WOOD) — Davenport University suffered its first loss of the season, falling to nationally ranked Ashland University 72-60 at Main Arena in Caledonia Saturday afternoon.

The Panthers dug themselves a big hole heading to halftime trailing 39-24.

Davenport outscored the Eagles in the second half, but the first half deficit was too much to overcome.  

Delano Smith led Davenport with 17 points.  Janeau Joubert added 11 points.

Davenport falls to 8-1, (2-1 GLIAC).  The Panthers are back in action Wednesday playing host to Goshen.
