April 7-13 is National Crime Victims’ Rights Week. There’s a special event going on in Grand Rapids. We have Lt. Kristen Rogers from the Grand Rapids Police Department along with Julie Niemchick, the Crime Prevention Coordinator with the City of Grand Rapids.

Candlelight and Prayer Vigil Honoring Victims of Crime

- Light refreshments afterwards at the GR Chamber of Commerce
This 30-minute vigil will include community members praying for our children and the safety of the community. The event will include several speakers: Kent County Sheriff Michelle LaJoye-Young, Kent County Prosecutor Chris Becker and Jerline Riley, a Grand Rapids resident who lost her son to homicide. Additionally, the names of victims of crime will be read out loud, so anyone wishing to submit their name or a loved one’s name should email firstname.lastname@example.org with that information by April 5.
