If you drive around West Michigan you can see, it’s a hot real estate market. It seems like there are “for sale” signs going up every day and “sold” appearing just as fast. So, if you’re in the market to sell your home, what do you need to do to get it ready? We have realtor Jeff Glover in studio with us, let’s talk about the market.
Closets: Everything off the floor and off the top shelves, color coordinated if possible and organized by clothing. No dry cleaning bags. Matching Hangers. Bright lighting and/or chandelier if possible. Nothing hanging on doors.
Basement: Finished Basement goal is to make it look like equal living space to the main level. This means, create a living area, dining area (if there is a kitchen), bar stools (if there is a bar). If it is finished, remove all clutter. Get rid of any musty smells with a dehumidifier and you want the space to appear frequently used. If unfinished; everything off the floor and organized against the perimeter walls to make the basement feel there is a lot of storage room. At a minimum; wash floors Ideally we would like to see the floors painted.
Garage: Make sure both cars can fit in it. Similar to basement, floors washed but we prefer painted (no oil stains). Tools hung and organized. If dry walled- finish and paint walls and add lighting.
Yard: Fresh mulch, green grass, hedges trimmed, flowers planted and or flower pots at porch (take a picture of the front of your house). Put more into the front than the back.
Jeff Glover is also giving back to the community. Glover’s Heroes is accepting nominations of local community heroes that are in need of rehabilitation of their home. Through Jeff’s foundation they will be covering 100% of the cost of this rehabilitation.
