GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) Summer is a great time to sit down with a great book. A great book that inspires thought is even better! The Grand Rapids Public Library is sharing its top ten picks for its annual GR Reads program. Each recommended book has corresponding events that complement the subject matter, including “Between the World and Me.”
“Between the World and Me” generated a lot of conversation about raising strong black men. The author, Ta-Nehisi Coates, wrote it in the form of a letter to his teenage son. He wrote the book to tell the story of current events in a way to help his son understand his place in the world.
