Pain relief without prescription pain medication

More than a third of adults take prescription pain medications on a daily basis and while those pills can be great for relieving short term pain, the side effects from taking them long term can be startling.

We’re here with Ashley VandenBerg from Northern Physical Therapy in Lowell.

Physical therapy can be a safe alternative to prescription pain pills when it comes to treating a variety of conditions. There is a time and place for prescription pain medications, and if taken in combination with PT you can decrease pain even faster.  Pills mask the pain but don’t solve the problem; physical therapy can address what’s causing the problem.

What types of issues make physical therapy a better option than prescription pain medications?
–    Low back pain
–    Knee osteoarthritis
–    Fibromyalgia
–    Sports Injuries
