Give back in West Michigan on Giving Tuesday

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich (WOOD) – Many of us spent the past weekend giving thanks. During the holiday season many are looking at ways to give back to the community. November 29th is Giving Tuesday, and an awesome way to give back in West Michigan. Michelle Van Dyke from the Heart of West Michigan United Way joined eightWest to give viewers over 20 agencies that are looking for assistance this season.

#GRgives on #Giving Tuesday is a city-wide campaign intended to help local nonprofits find volunteers, build awareness of their organizations and to encourage people to give or volunteer.

The idea of GRgives is based on the concept of Giving Tuesday, a national movement that promotes giving time, talent or treasure to nonprofits on Tuesday, November 29,during what is often a consumer-dominated holiday season.

There are so many non-profits that do such good work in our community. They all deserve visibility. Close to 200 agencies are participating this year.

Community members can visit to donate online to the organization of their choice or pledge to volunteer 2 hours of time over the next year. You can find an organization that best fits your passion – whether it be arts, education, food security, senior, and so on.
