Exploring Traverse City’s food scene

After a long winter, Spring is really the best time to get moving! The weather is warmer and we’re ready to hit the road and have some fun!

All this week, we’re highlighting Traverse City. How fun would it be to take an easy road trip to Northern Michigan? Today, we’re going to eat our way through downtown Traverse City.

The area has a lot of diverse offerings, everything from French food, to Asian and Latin and a lot of the restaurants have a common thread. They use fresh, local ingredients to create signature dishes that keep locals and visitors coming back.

Downtown is such a unique collection of restaurants, whether you’re looking for something low key or more upscale, there’s something for everyone. And there are a lot of shops surrounding those restaurants, over 150 great places to explore.

It’s fun to spend the day downtown, then head north to wine country. The Traverse Wine Coast is made up of the Leelanau and Old Mission Peninsulas, and next month during Michigan Wine Month they’re doing something really fun.

It’s called TC Uncorked and all month long, there will be special events at the wineries and vineyards. There’s tasting tours, great culinary offerings and lots of great lodging packages. All of this, set against picturesque landscapes and stunning Lake Michigan shoreline.
