An open table for all

One important aspect of any community is to make sure the needs of the community are being met. For the community of Lowell, that’s where Lowell’s Open Table comes in.

Lowell’s Open Table is a nonprofit organization that offers a free 3 course restaurant style meal every Thursday.  They began out of the concept of a Community Thanksgiving dinner that has served over 250 dinners each Thanksgiving for the past 12 years.

The Lowell community has embraced this event each year through its volunteerism, donations and by coming together to share a meal. The number of students receiving free or reduced lunch in Lowell area schools was another motivator to form this organization.

The goal of Open Table is to reach out to people in need. This can mean many different things. Whether people are looking for company to share a meal with, a way to make ends meet or just need a break from cooking and cleaning. When you walk in to Open Table you will see children with families, seniors and some individuals who join someone they know or are able to meet a new neighbor at one of their tables.  They believe their organization gives the opportunity to serve, be served, and show compassion to others.
