ALLENDALE, Mich. (WOOD) — Grand Valley State University is proud to celebrate the arts with their 14th annual Fall Arts Celebration. The Fall Arts program features a variety of performances and speakers, all dedicated to the diversity and beauty of the arts and all the events are free and open to the public.On Thursday, October 13th at 7:00 P.M., join acclaimed poets Oliver de la Paz and Tracy K. Smith as they read from their vast works of poetry. There will also be a book signing and meet and greet following the show.Celebrate the art of dance with famed New York dance group the Francesa Harper Project, along with Grand Valley faculty and students, as they perform Beethoven’s ballet The Creatures of Prometheus. This performance of Beethoven’s only ballet will be on Monday, October 24th, at 7:30 P.M. in the Louis Armstrong Theatre at the Allendale campus.On Monday, November 14th, Grand Valley will welcome award-winning writer Rebecca Solnit as she gives her lecture “Seeing the Invisible: Journeys through the Overlooked, Unheard, Outside, and Insurrectionary”. The event begins at 7:00 P.M. in the Eberhard Center, and will be followed by a book signing.Finally, join Grand Valley on Monday, December 5th as they celebrate holiday traditions with Handal’s Messiah, performed by the Grand Valley State Chorale and Orchestra. The performance will be held at Fountain Street Church at 7:00 P.M.Celebrating the Arts is just one way that GVSU is connecting with Community.
