Tuesday Rain in W. Michigan

Bill's Blog

No severe weather was reported here in the Great Lakes Region. There was one severe weather report, some trees down from high wind in Onsted in Lenawee County. There were a couple of power outages east of Onsted, one of them was over 400 customers east of Loch Erin. There were a handful of power outages and I don’t know if they were storm related (wind or lightning). Several thousand customers lost power in Ionia County. Here’s some rainfall totals…Flint had 1.06″ and Farmington had 1.19″ in 30 minutes. Brownlee Park (Calhoun Co.) had 1.43″ Grand Junction 1.30″ and there was 1.15″ in Lawton.

I’ll leave Grand Rapids radar up here on the thread…a few lingering morning showers today (Wed.). We should be mostly sunny and dry this PM.

Map of the tornadoes of 2020 Through Aug. 31

Here’s a map of the tornadoes of 2020 as of August 31. We have had only one tornado in Michigan and that was in the Upper Peninsula. The annual average for Michigan is 16. Not too far away, there have been quite a few tornadoes in N. Illinois. Note that California, Oregon, Arizona, Delaware, Maine, New Hamshire, Connecticut and Massachusetts have had more tornadoes than Michigan this year.
