DES MOINES, IOWA (WOOD) — Grand Rapids Catholic Central product Marcus Bingham Jr. has found himself on the big stage with the Michigan State basketball team.

With time in 21 games this season, the 6-foot-11 freshman center has scored 20 total points, including five three-pointers.

Now he’s in Des Moines, Iowa, ahead of the opening of the NCAA Tournament.

24 Hour News 8’s Joe Aulisio caught up with Bingham Wednesday at Michigan State’s practice at Wells Fargo Arena. Bingham Jr. talked about what he has learned in his freshman year and how he’s grown with Spartans.

He’s is one of three West Michigan products playing in Des Moines this week. Michigan State’s Xavier Tillman and Michigan’s Isaiah Livers are both competing, as well. You’ll hear from them at 10 p.m. and 11 p.m. on 24 Hour News 8.

No. 2 Michigan State opens the tournament versus No. 15 Bradley at 2:45 p.m. Thursday. The game will air on CBS.
