Phil Pinarski is a digital reporter and host for WOOD TV8. He joined the team in October 2022 after spending more than three years in Birmingham, Alabama, as a digital content producer and digital anchor.
Phil graduated in 2019 from Marquette University, where he spent the majority of his time working at the television station on campus. As a sophomore, he was named the executive news producer. He and his team won a Society of Professional Journalists Award in 2017 for their coverage of a rally against then-President Donald Trump in downtown Milwaukee. Phil was promoted to general manager in his junior year, when he began the process of expanding the opportunities for students to excel in broadcast television.
Now in West Michigan, Phil looks forward to learning more about the area and utilizing the WOOD TV8 Live Desk. He helped launch CBS 42 Now while in Birmingham, which saw extensive coverage of crime investigations, election results and surprisingly winter weather.
Phil has spent most of his life moving around the country, making stops in Chicago, Memphis, Milwaukee, Birmingham and now Grand Rapids. He is a die-hard Memphis Grizzlies fan but enjoys anything sports related!
