Luke Laster joined the News 8 team in August of 2020 as the station’s first digital anchor. In this role, Luke is able to deliver breaking news right to the TV in your pocket from the new WOOD TV8 Live Desk.
As a Marine City, Mich., native, Luke attended both grade and high school overlooking Canada on the St. Clair River. He went on to graduate from Central Michigan University in 2017 with a bachelor’s of applied arts in broadcast and cinematic arts. During his time in the maroon and gold, he was a member of co-curriculars News Central 34 and WMHW Radio.
Following graduation, Luke moved to Billings, Montana, where he was an anchor, reporter and producer for the local NBC affiliate, KULR-8.
After hanging out with the bison in Yellowstone National Park and hiking the trails of Glacier National Park, Luke is happy to once again be surrounded by water, in the state he was born and raised in.
You can find him on both Twitter and Facebook, where he’ll happily respond to any viewer messages, particularly the ones with food, brewery, hiking, or skiing recommendations.
