GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - The Grand Rapids Griffins are one win away from winning their first Calder Cup.
The Griffins lead the Syracuse Crunch 3-0 in the best-of-seven American Hockey League finals series.
The sold-out Game 4 is at 7 p.m. Friday at Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids, and you can watch it on WXSP.
So combine the usual Friday night crowd with the 12,000+ people in the Arena and those wanting to be a part of the playoffs excitement in the area, then downtown Grand Rapids is expected to be very, very busy.
Grand Rapids police suggest you get downtown as early as you can as there will be big happy-hour and dinner crowds, and to expect to see many officers to deal with the larger crowds.
"We're asking you to be responsible, drink responsibly, look out for each other, whether you are with your friends or family, be guided by what the officers down around the arena are telling you, and we'll make it safely through the weekend," said Lt. Pat Dean of the Grand Rapids Police Department.
