GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - It was not the offensive game the Grand Rapids Griffins have come to know in their run towards a 2013 Calder Cup. But in game one of the Western Conference Finals against the Oklahoma City Barons, a 2-1 win was just enough.
Brennan Evans got the scoring started for Grand Rapids with a first period goal, his first of the playoffs. After the Barons tied the game just nine minutes later, Landon Ferraro waited until the second period to give the Griffins a 2-1 lead and a 1-0 series lead.
Head Coach Jeff Blashill said game one was the typical "feeling out" game and both teams will continue to get to know each other as the series continues.
Game two of the Western Conference Finals is Saturday, May 25, 7:00PM at Van Andel Arena.
