BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (WOOD) - At 14 years old, Andrew Walker of Battle Creek is the fifth-youngest person ever to qualify for the U.S. Amateur.
After finishing his freshman year at Battle Creek Lakeview in the spring, Andrew Walker spent his summer touring the United States, playing in some of the biggest junior golf tournaments in the nation.
Andrew won an American Junior Golf Association tournament in Ohio earlier this summer and won a three-way playoff at Forest Akers West in Lansing in July, shooting a 71 and 69.
That feat earned him a spot in the U.S. Amateur. Walker won't turn 15 until October, making him the fifth-youngest person ever to qualify for the tournament. Bobby Jones was the fourth-youngest.
