Governor Jennifer Granholm and North Carolina Governor BeverlyPerdue are both betting the team from their state will win the NCAAbasketball title game Monday night.
A friendly wager has the governor from the losing state beingphotographed eating treats from the winning state while wearing thewinning team's jersey and hat. A photo will be released to thepublic. That governor will also donate $100 to a food bank in thewinning team's state.
"Coach Tom Izzo and the Michigan State University Spartan menhave given the state of Michigan a great gift - the chance at anational championship from the hardest working team in collegebasketball," Granholm said. "Thanks to the Spartans for upliftingour entire state and for giving us hope. Their victory Saturdaynight was our victory, and we wish them great success in thechampionship game Monday night," said Governor Granholm.
Granholm was in attendance at Saturday night's Final Four gamebetween MSU and the University of Connecticut. She is scheduled toattend the championship game between Michigan State University andthe University of North Carolina.
Vehicles occupied by a sheriff's deputy and a Michigan State Police motor carrier officer were hit.
A fire damaged three garages and some homes in a Grand Haven neighborhood early Thursday morning.
The suspects stole cash and fled the scene.
