GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - Campaigning in Grand Rapids on Monday, Republican Senate hopeful Pete Hoekstra said he wants six debates with incumbent Democratic Sen. Debbie Stabenow.
At the Kent County GOP headquarters, the former congressman from Holland said he wants to have a discussion about the issues on voters minds.
Late last week, the Stabenow campaign issued a statement on debates: "It's surprising Hoekstra wants to debate at all, given that he wants to take away people's right to elect their senators altogether."
The statement continued, "In any case, we look forward to the candidates debating and as with every statewide race, the campaigns will need to sit down with each other and figure out when that can happen."
