GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - Three Democratic state representatives from West Michigan launched their latest attack on Republicans Monday with the "Republican Tax-O-Meter."
According to Reps. Brandon Dillon, Winnie Brinks (D-Grand Rapids) and Collene Lamonte (D-Montague), the meter is an effort to show how Gov. Rick Snyder and Republicans have increased the tax burden on middle-class families and retirees.
To make their point, the Democrats highlighted, among other things, a tax on retirement income and the cut to the Earned Income Tax Credit.
The lawmakers say the Tax-O-Meter, which toured several communities Monday, shows a live tally of that tax shift.
They say House Democrats are working to restore tax credits and repeal the tax on retirees.
A Grand Rapids man busted for using a 77-year-old woman's credit cards has now been charged with breaking into her home – and raping her.
Fred Glespie was found not guilty in the death of three children who died in an apartment fire.
Police are looking for the suspect in an armed robbery that occurred at a gas station in Plainwell Thursday night.
