MOTTVILLE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) - A woman died at a hospital after being injured and trapped under water when her tractor crashed into a pond.
Betty Hull from the Mottville Township area was 62.
She was driving her utility tractor next to a pond around 12:38 p.m. Aug. 24 near her home in the 11000 block of U.S. 12 in Mottville Township, police said.
The tractor somehow rolled into the pond, resulting in her being pinned under water for 15 minutes, according to the St. Joseph County Sheriff's Department.
Sheriff's deputies, Michigan State Police troopers, White Pigeon firefighters and Life Care ambulance personnel were dispatched to the scene, west of White Pigeon. They were able to free Hull from under the tractor and pull her out of the water.
Crews performed CPR on her, and then Air Care transported her to a hospital where she was listed in critical condition.
24 Hour News 8 spoke to a hospital spokesperson Monday morning who said Hull has since passed away.
Hull wore a seat belt at the time of the crash, and alcohol was not a factor, police said.
