THREE RIVERS, Mich. (WOOD) - A woman allegedly used a knife to threaten a gas station cashier during a robbery and then told the worker to not call police immediately as the suspect fled the scene.
Police continue to search for the suspect, Yasmeen Mahasin Campbell.
A friend drove Campbell to the Admiral gas station at 102 S. U.S. 131 in Three Rivers early Wednesday morning, according to a news release. Campbell went into the business, walked around inside, took a soft drink from the cooler, waited for all of the other patrons to leave the store, and then walked to the front counter and leaned on it, police said.
The cashier approached the counter to assist Campbell with her purchase. Campbell then grabbed the cashier's left arm and placed a standard, kitchen steak knife with a black handle against it in a threatening manner, police said. Campbell demanded the clerk give her money from the cash register, and yelled at the cashier to hurry up.
As Yasmeen left with an undisclosed amount of money, she told the cashier to wait five minutes before calling police.
The Three Rivers Police Department released an undated photo of Yasmeen. They said she fled the scene wearing a dark blue T-shirt with an unknown picture on the front, and dark-colored sweatpants. Her hair was pulled back into a ponytail. She was last seen after the crime walking east on Millard Street near Maple Crest Apartments, west of the gas station.
If you have seen Yasmeen or know anything about this incident then you are asked to call the Three Rivers Police Department at 269.278.1235.
