AUSTIN (KXAN) - A video of a man's "Papa Bear" instincts in protecting Toaster the dog is gaining some major traction online.
YouTube user kevinrose put up the video Sunday, and already it's passed 2.5 million views -- gaining more than 300,000 views alone in a couple hours on Monday.
A man sees his poor pooch getting attacked by a raccoon and decides he'll have none of that. He confronts the raccoon, picks it up and throws it.
In the video, he does say, "I do not encourage animal violence. I wanted to get the wild animal as far away from us as possible."
He apparently awoke to Toaster crying and yelping in pain around 1 a.m.
Toaster is apparently OK but has some claw and bite marks.
The victim driver could face charges, and alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash, police said.
Michigan authorities say this year's deer harvest appears to be down significantly from 2012 because of weather, disease and rule changes.
