EAU CLAIRE, Mich. (WOOD) - A Berrien County woman drowned after becoming pinned in a pond under her lawn mower.
It happened Friday at a residence in the 2300 block of Michael Road in Eau Claire, which is about 12 miles southeast of St. Joseph, according to the Berrien County Sheriff's Department.
Linda Marutz, 66, had been mowing the lawn next to a pond when she accidentally drove the riding lawn mower into the pond, deputies who were called to the residence found.
The lawn mower rolled on top of her and she was not able to get free, causing her to drown.
The sheriff's department continues to investigate.
