GENEVA TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) - A woman has died after being struck by a car in Geneva Township Thursday.
The incident happened just after 12 a.m. on 68th Street south of CR 388.
According to officials, 18-year-old Charles Carrigan from Kalamazoo was driving south on 68th Street attempting to find an area with his GPS when he swerved to miss another pedestrian walking near the edge of the road with 18-year-old Ayala Shulman.
When Carrigan swerved, he hit Shulman who was walking in the road near the center line. Shulman was transported by AirCare to Bronson Methodist Hospital.
At the time and location of the crash, there was patchy fog, the road was not illuminated by any street lamps, and the victim was wearing black clothing, according to a news release.
Speed and alcohol were not factors in the crash. The incident remains under investigation.

Holland police were searching for 28-year-old Mark Steven Randall Harris, who was considered armed and dangerous, but arrested him late Wednesday night.
