STURGIS, Mich. (WOOD) - Two people accused in a methamphetamine lab case had another run-in with authorities later that same day.
A Sturgis police officer recognized two males walking near Franks Park on S. Lakeview Street that had possibly been involved in a methamphetamine lab earlier in the day.
When the officer tried to talk to them, they started to run away around 11:52 p.m. Tuesday.
The 17-year-old suspect was taken into custody after a short foot chase with police, according to a news release.
He had a backpack that contained several components needed to assemble a "one pot" methamphetamine lab, police said.
A police K-9 unit was dispatched to the scene and tracked down the second suspect, a 23-year-old, along a fence line west of the park.
Both of the suspects from Sturgis are being charged with resisting and obstructing police, and manufacturing methamphetamine.
The younger suspect is also being charged with violating probation. The other suspect also faces an outstanding warrant charge.
