COLON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) - A 40-year-old man died after his car crashed along a St. Joseph County road, overturned and caught on fire.
Charles O'Brien III was driving around 8:55 p.m. Sunday northbound on Farrand Road north of Townline Road in Colon Township.
His 1995 Ford Mustang went off the road to the left and struck an embankment at the edge of the road, according to a news release. The car overturned, struck a tree and caught on fire.
O'Brien, from Burr Oak, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
It is unknown if O'Brien wore his seat belt at the time of the crash, nor if alcohol was a factor, police said.
